Jean believes that successful communities and countries are based on equality and cultural respect and is actively involved in ensuring the future of Europe is fair and just.

Jean is a member of the European Parliament Anti-Racism group the Disability Intergroup and the Gay and Lesbian Intergroup.  Jean is also a Co-President of the European Parliament's Intergroup on Ageing, a cross-party group which meets to discuss issues related to older people.
