Jean Lambert London's Green MEP

Issue: Waste

Jean has campaigned hard for the sustainable handling of waste – in London and further afield.

Specifically, she has joined recent campaigns against the South London Incinerator, a planned waste burner in Sutton that could handles as much as 300,000 tonnes of trash a year, and the Pinkham Way waste site in North London, on the border of Haringey, Enfield and Barnet.

She believes we should reduce the amount of waste we produce first – and has pushed for a bans on excess packaging and plastic shopping bags – and for subsidies for the use of re-usable nappies.

What we must discard should be re-used if possible, then recycled – as part of a zero-waste strategy for London.
