VACANCY: Advisor on the Financial Crisis for the Greens/EFA Group in the European Parliament
Full-time position as advisor to the special Committee on the Financial Crisis (CRIS)
The Greens/EFA Group in the European Parliament is looking for an advisor for the special Committee on the financial Crisis (CRIS) and for the economic and monetary Affairs Committee (ECON)
The person should be able to start as soon as possible. The contract will be one-year fixed-term contract (Group of Function IV), with possible continuation.
The person should fulfil the following criteria:
- good knowledge of the European institutions and structures; a professional experience in the EU institutions is an asset;
- knowledge of economic theories and of EU policies in the area of financial market regulation, economic policy co-ordination, financial services legislation, supervision micro, macro, hedge funds...; practical experience would be an asset;
- excellent working knowledge of English in writing and in speech is essential; very good knowledge of French or German is required, and knowledge of other languages is an asset;
- high analytical capacities, good communication skills and capability to take initiative;
- flexibility to work in a multinational and multilingual team and acceptance of the working rhythms of the European Parliament; work experience in national or international political institutions would be an asset;
- be experienced in negotiations and in networking with relevant organisations;
- location: Brussels. Frequent travel outside Belgium is required, in particular to Strasbourg during the plenary sessions.
Job Description
- Advise MEPS in the CRIS Committee on all aspects related to this field;
- Prepare briefings for MEPs, amendments, resolutions, press releases, brochures etc.;
- Follow legislative, regulatory, technical and political developments in relevant fields for both the CRIS and ECON Committees.
- Assist in developing Group policy on specific aspects including strategic planning and campaigns;
- Co ordinate with other relevant Advisers related to this field and follow work in these committees as appropriate;
- Liaise with staff of sister committees in national parliaments, with key NGOs, and activists;
- Maintain contact with colleagues and MEPs in other political groups of the EP, including negotiations on compromise positions and texts;
