As a Green MEP, Jean believes that the European Parliament should operate as a positive force for peace throughout Europe and the rest of the world. She is opposed to the proliferation of arms and regularly speaks out in the European Parliament to help highlight the suffering of citizens caught in conflicts and help conflicts and democracy.

Jean and her former fellow Green MEP Caroline Lucas, now MP for Brighton Pavilion, recently produced a publication highlighting thier work on this issue, entitled Peace and Human Rights: Green MEPs working for progress in the European Parliament. This covers the following topics:

  • The so-called ‘war on terror’ and restrictions on civil liberties
  • The arms trade
  • Opposing nuclear weapons
  • Promoting democracy and the right to self-determination
  • Asylum and migration
  • Discrimination and abuse
